In the trailer for the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity, struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson) arrives at acclaimed author Verity Crawford’s (Anne Hathaway) estate, questioning why she’s unable to finish her newest book. Crawford’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett) reveals that Verity is wheelchair bound, nonverbal, and may never walk again due to an accident. 

Lowen takes on the job to finish the novel while wrestling with how to make readers engaged when Verity’s voice and style are different from her own. The more time she spends on the novel, the closer her connection grows for Jeremy and the more twisted everything becomes, especially after uncovering a flash drive filled with chilling confessions. Passion, sex, secrets, and betrayal encapsulate the story. 

Verity premieres October 2 in theaters.
