Nearly 25 Years Later, Tamera Mowry-Housley Reflects On Her First Feature Film Role In The Hot Chick

Nearly 25 years after making her feature film debut in The Hot Chick, Tamera Mowry-Housley still has fond memories of stepping onto the set of the cult classic.

“Wait, that was 25 years ago?” Mowry-Housley asked in shock during an interview with Pop Culture Planet for her film Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Prelude To A Wedding. Released in 2002, The Hot Chick starred Rob Schneider, Anna Faris, Rachel McAdams, Matthew Lawrence, and Adam Sandler. Mowry-Housley appeared as sassy cheerleader Sissie in the film alongside her twin sister Tia Mowry as Venetia.

Mowry-Housley called it “iconic.” “It was so much fun. It was surreal,” she shared. “Adam Sandler was so nice. Rob Schneider, he was so nice.”

Looking back, Mowry-Housley remembers getting a piece of advice from Schneider that has stayed with her ever since. “He actually gave me one of the greatest acting tips,” she said. “He said, ‘Always find a hobby.’ Because acting, you know, you always have your ebbs and flows, your highs and lows. It’s important to find something outside of that.”

More than two decades later, Mowry-Housley even still has her lines down. “I think it was, ‘Ling Ling, somebody answer the phone,’” she laughed.

While The Hot Chick may have been one of her earliest film experiences, it remains a memorable chapter in a career that is still going strong.
