Would Holly Robinson Pete Return For 24 Jump Street? She Weighs In
Holly Robinson Peete isn’t quite sure about 24 Jump Street, but that doesn’t mean she’d rule out a return to the Jump Street universe.
During Hallmark Channel’s 25th birthday red carpet, Pop Culture Planet asked Peete about the rumored sequel and if she’d want to participate. “24? What happened to 23? Did we miss that?” she questioned. In fact, they did! There’s been a 12-year gap since 22 Jump Street so they decided to make a self-aware meta-joke by skipping straight to 24 Jump Street.
Peete admitted she’s unsure about the idea, especially given how different the movies are from the original 21 Jump Street television series. “I don't know. I mean, I'm kind of, I don't know about that,” she said. “The movie is totally different from the series. As a matter of fact, a lot of people don't even realize that the movie was based on a series. That's how long ago that was.”
But Peete revealed she’s open to the possibility if Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum called. “Listen, when Jonah Hill called me and said, ‘Would you be in it?’ And Channing Tatum, I did it in a minute,” she said about appearing in the first film. “I would if they let me.”
Landing the role of Sergeant Judy Hoffs in 1987 was a break out role for Peete. Starring alongside Johnny Depp, the smart and level-headed undercover police officer was part of a specialized unit that posed as high school and college students to solve crimes. The franchise was rebooted for the big screen with Hill and Tatum in 2012’s 21 Jump Street and its 2014 sequel 22 Jump Street.
While Peete may be unsure about the possibly 24 Jump Street, she is willing to hear Hill and Tatum out if they need her.
