Will Margot Song Covey Ever Get Her Love Story? Janel Parrish Weighs In

From To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before to XO, Kitty, two of the three Song Covey sisters have found love. But what about Margot?

As the oldest Song Covey sister, Margot is responsible, organized, and nurturing. She’s a true role model for her sisters after their mother’s passing. She’s always there for Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and even shows up in Korea for Kitty when she needs her. “I did get to do a guest star last season on XO, Kitty,” said Janel Parrish about returning to the role. “I got to make a surprise appearance and show up for my girl Anna Cathcart and that was so much fun.”

While she’s supported her sisters and their romantic ups and downs, when will it be Margot’s turn? Parrish is all in. “I would love it. Call me guys anytime. I think Margot deserves her own story as well and some love,” she enthused. “I think what we said was Margot was teaching. Let's have a story about her being a teacher and falling in love. I'm here for it.”

There’s no denying that the pioneering success of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before has paved the wave for Asian American representation in rom-coms like Parrish’s new Hallmark Channel movie Two For Tee. Just like Margot, Tee is a mixed-race woman looking to celebrate her culture. “This is the first script that has come across my table where I was like I feel so seen. I feel so represented,” she told me while promoting Two For Tee. “The Chinese aspect of it and the culture of it, but also the half part of it too.”

“I was like, ‘Wow, I really just feel so represented,’ and to be able to hopefully be representation for other little girls who look like me, who are like, ‘Hey, she looks like me.’ I'm always so honored when somebody comes up and says, ‘Hey, I loved you in XYZ because I see the representation,’” Parrish continued. “That means a lot because […] representation is so, so, so important and I didn't see a lot of that growing up. I'm really happy to be part of that.”

You can watch Two For Tee now on Hallmark+ and the third season of XO, Kitty is out April 2 on Netflix.
