Niall Matter and Wes Brown Tease What To Expect In Holiday Sequel A Grand Biltmore Christmas
The holiday magic is returning to the Biltmore!
In A Biltmore Christmas, a screenwriter working on a reboot of the holiday classic His Merry Wife! discovers a magical hourglass that sends her back to the 1947 set. Now the highly anticipated sequel A Grand Biltmore Christmas takes us back to the Christmas Eve that the historic estate first opened. In 1895, Elizabeth meets Michael, a young trespasser who suddenly vanishes. Twenty years later, she reunites with Michael when a magical hourglass pulls her into modern day.
Both Niall Matter and Wes Brown spoke with Pop Culture Planet at Hallmark Channel’s 25th birthday red carpet about what to expect from the new chapter.
Matter describes the movie as “a love story that spans over a century.” He plays Michael opposite Holland Roden’s Elizabeth. “She knocked it out of the park,” he said of his co-star, while praising the creative team of director Dustin Rikert and producers Andrew Gernhard and Molly Mayeux. “It’s a team that I haven’t had the chance to work with before ‘cause this guy always gets their movies. But I absolutely loved working with them.”
He also gave a shoutout to actor James Trevena, who plays Elizabeth’s suitor James. “[He’s] quickly becoming a Hallmark leading man,” Matter said. “This, I believe, was his second movie and now he's got his own movie coming out. He's incredible. He's amazing in this movie.”
The original film ended with a fun cameo of Wes Brown and Rachel Boston as the leads of the modern His Merry Wife! remake. “I was really surprised about how much we got to expand our characters. We don't we have a ton of screen time, but what we got to do with it was really great,” said Brown about his “knockout cameo” role in the sequel. “They let us play. They let us have a lot of fun. It was just great to be back. I never thought I would be back in a sequel.”
A Grand Biltmore Christmas premieres December 5 on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.
