Lacey Chabert Recalls A Sweet Moment When Her Daughter Recognized Her Voice Acting!
Lacey Chabert may be known as the Queen of Hallmark, but long before becoming a Hallmark Channel favorite, she was lending her voice to our most beloved animated characters.
From The Wild Thornberries to Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny, Chabert has built an extensive voice-acting career. But she wasn’t always so confident about her voice. “I had a really, really high-pitched voice when I was younger,” Chabert told Pop Culture Planet while celebrating Hallmark Channel’s 25th birthday at the 92nd Street Y. “Not that it's super low now, but I was made fun of it because of it in school.”
What was once an insecurity became her super power. “All of a sudden it turned something that was a bit of an insecurity when I was younger into something that I could express myself creatively,” she said. “So it's actually been such a blessing.”
Chabert continues to pursue voiceover work and now her daughter gets to experience some of those performances for herself. Her daughter recently watched Anastasia for the first time — and yes, she knows her mom provided the singing voice for young Anastasia.
But one of Chabert’s favorite memories of her daughter recognizing her work came when she was only two years old. At the time, Chabert was voicing Zeta the Sorceress in Shimmer and Shine. After watching a few episodes, he daughter looked at the television and excitedly said, “Mama’s voice. Mama’s voice.”
“It was the best,” enthused Chabert. “It was such a sweet moment, you know, she recognized it.”
Whether she’s behind the mic or on the set of her next Hallmark movie, being a part of stories that resonate with audiences is what matters most to Chabert. “Anything that I get to be a part of, I appreciate and enjoy,” she said. “Especially with Hallmark Channel, I mean, 25 years [of] making such meaningful programming. For me as an actress, to be a part of something that means something to people is the ultimate.”
