From Pretty Little Liars to The Last Sunrise, Maia Reficco Chooses Between Her Final Girl and Lover Girl Eras
Maia Reficco had a breakout with her role as Noa Olivar in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin where she was chased by the killer A over the course of two seasons. Now she leads the new Anna Todd romance The Last Sunrise about a young woman struggling with health issues while she falls in love in Majorca. Speaking with Pop Culture Planet’s Kristen Maldonado, Reficco tells us which is more fun: being a final girl or a lover girl.
“Both,” Reficco said immediately. “I can’t choose. You’re making me choose between my two kids.”
She admitted being a final girl came with an adrenaline rush you can’t beat. “There’s something about being a final girl that I don’t think anything can top,” Reficco said. “Getting to be chased around by a murderer and also like such an iconic murderer like A was something that will forever live as one of my favorite things I’ve ever experienced.”
But The Last Sunrise allowed her to tap into something more uplifting. “There’s something about the divine feminine energy that comes with being a lover girl that’s really empowering,” she said. “I’m a very insecure person. It made me feel beautiful and desired.”
Ultimately, she couldn’t pick a winner. “Both. Worst answer of all time,” she laughed. “Both.”
