The new animated film In Waves brings the true story of AJ Drungo’s autobiography memoir to life! 

The trailer opens up a beautiful, cinematic scene of shy teenager AJ (Will Sharpe) learning how to surf from Kristen (Stephanie Hsu), a girl he meets at a high school dance. Drawn to her off the bat, the two go through life together with a vibrant Los Angeles as the background. 

Their story is immortalized by AJ’s drawings as they go through every single thing that comes their way together. From dreamy surfing scenes to emotional hardships, the film showcases what it’s like to be in love, to live a fulfilling life, and ultimately, what shapes you to be who you are. 

In Waves premieres December 11 on Netflix.
