Keke Palmer Brings Charm To Peacock’s Suburban Whodunnit In The ‘Burbs

Keke Palmer is back with a new murder-mystery comedy on Peacock, but is it actually good?

We’re talking about The ‘Burbs, a TV adaptation of the 1989 cult-classic starring Tom Hanks. This series explores who is really allowed to feel safe in suburbia as new mom Samira moves with her husband back to his childhood home. While there, she uncovers dark secrets the town has been hiding.

I absolutely loved this show. ‘The Burbs hooked me from the very beginning with its perfect balance of humor and mystery. I was genuinely laughing out loud, but also fully immersed in uncovering the secrets in this small town. Eagle-eyed fans of the movie will even spot fun Easter eggs throughout. The show smartly isn’t a copy and paste of the film and paves its own way.

Keke Palmer is so charismatic and charming, really grounding the show. The supporting cast is also fantastic, with particular standout performances from Jack Whitehall and Kapil Talwalkar. Everyone is a suspect and has their own things they’re hiding, but there’s this wholesome energy to this quirky cast of neighbors that are trying to help her figure out what’s up with the creepy house next door. The season has a high-paced energy that made me want to see more and I’m really hoping we get another season that dives even deeper into the mystery.

The first season of The ‘Burbs is streaming on Peacock.
