Back to the Future Sets A Theatrical Re-Release To Celebrate Its 40th Anniversary

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the global phenomenon that is Back to the Future and Universal Pictures is going all out in its honor!

Released in 1985, Back to the Future follows California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) who is transported to 1955 by a time-traveling DeLorean invented by Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). Stuck in the past, he must make sure his parents fall in love as teens or risk erasing his own existence.

To kick off the celebration, you’ll want to don your best Marty and Doc cosplays as the beloved classic returns to theaters nationwide starting October 31. This will be the first time Back to the Future will be present on the world’s largest screens, including Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and D-Box.

New exclusives drop October 14, just ahead of Back to the Future Day on October 21, thanks to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The centerpiece is their Back to the Future Trilogy – 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Gift Set featuring all three films in 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital. It’ll be packaged with a collectible Flux Capacitor Steelbook, an exclusive Gibson Mini Guitar replica, an OUTATIME metal license plate, a Back to the Future: A Visual History booklet, and an assortment of replica items from the Universal archives. Fans can even collect individual Steelbooks for each film.
